International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

LGBTQ2+ activism has opened the doors for all of us to more freely express ourselves. “Being yourself” sounds easy until you actually try to do it. The reality is that going against social norms, family and peer pressures, and the discomfort or fear brought on by others who feel threatened by that expression takes real strength and bravery. So many LGBTQ2+ activists have faced assault, harassment, jail, and even death for being themselves and loving who they love – beyond even a victimless crime, but a crime that actually improves and affirms life. We need to do and be better, and need to support and be allied to the cause of freedom of love and expression for all beings.

As a creative person and teacher, I thank each and every one of you for your continued existence and the power of your expression.

Oh! And check out this list of Canadian LGBTQ2+ musicians put together by YOHOMO Toronto:
